Smokey Onion Burger


  • 500g ground beef

  • 1/8 tsp salt

  • 1/8 tsp pepper

  • 4 burger buns

  • 4 slices of cheese

  • Springmount Fine Foods Smokey Onions

  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 large tomato sliced

  • Lettuce mix

  • Handful of sliced pickles


  • Season the ground beef and divide into four sections, forming into patties. Cook the patties in a large frypan over medium high heat. The patties will be ready to flip when juices start coming out of the patty, and there is a nice sear on the bottom. Flip and cook for a couple more minutes, then place one cheese slice onto each patty and turn off the stove. 

  • Once the cheese has melted, remove the patties from the pan, and return the pan to the heat. Place your cut burger buns face down onto the pan and cook until toasted and slightly charred. 

  • To construct your burger, place a generous amount of Springmount Fine Foods Smokey Onions on the base of the burger. Lay on top, the patties, followed by the tomato, onion, lettuce and pickles.

  • Place the top of the burger on, and enjoy!
